“STROKE OF THE WEEK” IS BACK !! BEGINS THE WEEK OF JUNE 16TH!
Glenbrook’s Pickleball Professionals will run you through the mechanics of a specified stroke, work with you on the correct grips, the correct stroke motion and then use it in live ball point play. This program is offered as a “drop in ” drill each week. You do NOT have to register for a session. Courts are organized according to the level of players that sign up. Like levels will be placed on the same court together. This program will be designed in an “academy style setting”. This means that all those that register for the weekly drill will be placed on courts according to their level so like levels will be training together! Stroke for each week content is listed below:
Lesson #1: Serve and Return – The objective by the end of this lesson, players will master the serve and the return of serve technique, setting a strong foundation for strategic play.. Explanation of the importance of a solid serve and a solid return of serve in pickleball.
- Mastering this skill can set the tone for the entire match, putting pressure on your opponent’s right from the start.
- Proper stance and grip for the return of serve are very important.
- Key elements of the stroke: footwork, timing, and follow-through.
Lesson #2: The Dreaded Third Shot Drop – The objective of the third shot drop is to disrupt opponents’ rhythm and put you and your partner in control of the point.
- Practice from various positions on the court.
- Incorporate spin to enhance control
- Game Simulation: ** Play points where third shot drops are mandatory on certain serves.
- Closure: ** Discuss strategic uses of the third shot drop during matches.
Lesson #3: Forehand Drive Mastery – The objective: is to develop a powerful and accurate forehand drive. How to hit with pace and how to take the pace off the ball.
Lesson #4: Backhand Basics – The objective: is top perfect the backhand stroke for consistency and control. How to hit down the line, crosscourt with accuracy. Learn how to control the ball.
Lesson #5: The Overhead Smash – The objective is to execute a powerful and precise overhead smash while setting yourself up for a proactive point play versus a reactive point play.
Lesson #6: How to hit and return the Lob: The objective is to show how to develop the mechanics that will allow one to execute an effective lob during point play, off the return of serve, and even when serving to start the point.
Schedule: To be determined weekly and registration is on a “drop in” weekly basis!
